It isn't clear above ... so, did you buy the lens from B&H? Do you mind
sharing what you had to pay?

I got mine at B&H last December; but I cannot for the life of me
remember how much I paid for it. I remember it being more expensive
than Adorama at the time, which kind of burned me.
I am getting a little annoyed overall with B&H. They are becoming
difficult to work with. The only way I have of buying camera gear is on
the Internet, and B&H is just not supporting their Internet customers
the way they used to. When I broke the lens hood on 18-200mm VR, I
ended up ordering a replacement from Adorama. B&H would not even admit
that they carried the lens, let alone a replacement hood for it. But
Adorama sent the hood within a few days, even though it was out of
stock when I ordered it.

Sorry about that. No, I didn't buy it from B&H. Last I heard
they had something like 100+ on back-order.

Seems pointless. :-)

Not really. Unless, of course, you bought it on eBay and overpaid by as
much as 60%. There's no shame in admitting you overpaid since many people
gladly participate in this activity. Anyway, I'm really glad you got one.
Enjoy it.

Overpaying is paying over what the open market price is. The current
eBay prices are about as open market as is possible in this world.
Camera stores who sell the lens for less than the market will bear are
actually underprofiting. ;-)
As for me, I got on a waiting list, then I decided I couldn't wait, and
bought mine on eBay in February for $900.00. When the lens came into
my local retail shop where I was on their "list," I went ahead and
bought it for $749.00. Then, unopened, I put it on eBay for no
reserve, with an opening bid of 99 cents. It went for $922.00, so I
ended up getting my lens EARLIER than I could have locally, for $22
LESS than I would have paid to get it later!
