Canon 400 5.6

Need your help again,from advice given on choice between canon 100-400 5.6
and canon 4005.6 decided to go with a canon 4005.6 but need to know how i
can use a 1.4 tc I know that i will need to manual focus but how do i set f-
stop will the canon 20d do i have to do it manually? does the canon 400 5.6
lens have a f-stop ring on the lens thanks for any help given.

It should work with a 1.4 tc.

just set the camera a Aperture priority and leave it wide open. This
lens is as sharp at f/5.6 as it is at f/8.0 but you can set the
aperture as long as the tc communicates with the lens.

But why mess up the great optics of this lens with a tc?

I have the 400 and use it with my 1.4 tele and it gives good results on both
my 20D and 1Dmk11n. Man focus obviously on the 20D and limited
functionality focus wise on the 1D. I find it very useful and a worthwhile
inclusion in the bag for the money.
