Batteries for Sony HVL-F32X?

I've got a Sony HVL-F32X external flash for my 828.  They work well
together.

Problem is, the flash won't work with NiMH rechargables. If it gets to
the Ready point at all, it takes forever.  I thought it was old
rechargables, but I bought a set of new Energizer 2500 mAh NiMHs (and
their charger) and still no dice.

Are there rechargables that work well in this flash?

Have you tried alkalines, they seem to be the best choice for many of the
smaller flashes

Are rechargable alkalines still available?

As far as I know -- alkalines were *never* rechargeable.  The
original article has already expired, so I don't know whether you have
tried NiMH batteries -- but that is what I use in my flash units.

    Good Luck,

IIRC Ray-o-vac marketed some a few years back.

I do, and that was the problem.

I've used two different kinds without problems, are you sure you have
the batteries in the right way? The outside should be both "plus" up
and the inside should be both "minus" up.

Thanks, Jim.  I checked the polarity.

In the interim, I bought another set of a different brand of NiMH; they
seem to work better... odd, 'cause they're lower capacity.  I'm
guessing that the flash is VERY voltage-sensitive, and some NiMH cells
don't measure up.
