Hi Everyone,

I just wrote a book--see blog
http://digitalartphotographyfordummies.blogspot.com/

I'm new to the group. I used a Rebel XT dSLR and a Rebel film camera
for the nearly 300 pictures I had to submit to my publisher.

I have a wide angle 18-22 mm lens (Canon) and a Telephoto 28-300 mm
(Tamron)

I mostly do architectural and candid photography (I sell my signage
photos, mid-century modern motel signs) and want another lens.

I'm debating in my head whether to get a macro or another, better wide
angle (one with little barrel distortion).

Any suggestions?

Last, I want another point-and-shoot with little lag time for my candid
stuff.

Thanks!

The "for dummies" phrase in your title could cause you some legal problems
... it has happened to others.

I like my Canon efs 10-22.  I also like my Sigma 105 macro but it does have
some occasional "communication" problems with my 20D.

Looks rather like he is legitamitly published by the "for dummies"
publisher. :)

Congrats, Matt, on your new book. :)

Thanks, I guess I'm getting used to people thinking that I borrowed the
Dummies name and am using it at will. I get that a lot at book
signings. Just to be clear about the Dummies issue, all Dummies titles
are just like regular books. You have an idea, you get an agent,
and--viola--you've got yourself a Dummies book. And, last, it was the
publisher--Wiley--that suggested I write a blog.
It's been a hoot, because the "art" in the title lets me go where the
ordinary tech titles can't--deep into the art world.

Looks great, Matt. Congratulations on your book. And it got a good
review, too!

I like your blog. It is nicely laid out and the photos do an excellent
job illustrating what you want.

Well, if you don't do any macro work, why would you get the macro?

I've been doing some photographing of insects and flowers, and,
eventually, I want to try out more lenses for some experimental stuff.
