Hi all,
Aplolgies for cross posting.

I am looking at getting a digital Nikon body for my existing Nikon
lenses, and would like to know if anybody has any experience with
autofocus through a Sigma 'D' lens? I have heard that there could be
some issues.

The lens in question is the sigma 170-500 f/5-6.3 D
I'm looking at a D50 or D70 for the body.

I'd appreciate it if anybody could let me know whether there are any
problems.

Cheers,
Kehan

As you know there should not be any problems.
Try before you buy, or make sure you can return the lens if it does not work
properly.
I have no experience with that particular lens, I doubt many people do, but
other Sigma autofocus lenses function very well with Nikons. Some have
reported problems with Sigma lenses on Canon autofocus bodies.
A more interesting question is how Nikon outsources some lens production to
Sigma or other third party manufacturers . . .

I can't cite experience with that exact lens, but I've used a Sigma
105mm f/2.8 EX DG on a Fuji S2 and a Nikon D200 digital and it focuses
as well on those as on the Nikon N90 I first got it for.

You will lose A/F where ever the max aperture is greater than f/5.6
