I can comfirm it 'fits' shirt buttons well enough to get popped off when you

Comparing photos of the back of a 5D with my 7D, it looks like there are
quite a few differences in the way the LCD is set into the body - I don't
see the raised lip around the LCD with notches for the protector to snap
into.
I also can't find any mention of the MPP-1000 in the K-M Maxxum 5D specs and
brochures.

The 5D "Item includes" list at B&H does not include a 5D LCD cover, so
it's hard to tell if it takes one at all, and what model it takes if any.
Hopefully a 5D owner will come along.
