Camera manuals on line?

Do Nikon, Canon, Olympus, etc, make their camera manuals available on
line?  Doing so is common in many lines of tech gear, but I haven't
been able to find them on the camera manufacturer web sites.  Am I
just looking in the wrong places?

Nikon has them in PDF format.  If you're a registered owner of any Nikon
product, you can download them.  If you're not, you can only view them.  Go
to their Knowledge Base and do a search.

Pathetic attitude. Most other manufacturers have PDF manuals freely
available in support area of their sites.

I downloaded the D200 manual pdf & I don't recall having to register.

Where did you find it?

I don't recall but I just searched the file name and found it here:
http://www.newsrx.com/temp/D200-En_01.pdf

Non official sources may not last long. The Nikon sites have recently
changed to require registration but you may not actually need to already
own Nikon product.

I did some more hunting and found where they hide it.  Start with
http://www.nikonusa.com/ then click on "Software Downloads".  This
gets you to the Knowledge Base somebody else mentioned.  From there
you can select "Manuals and Guides" from the Category pull-down menu.

The hard part was figuring out that manuals were hiding under
"Software Downloads".  The fact that it's hiding behind some
javascript menu explains why google didn't know about it.  Hopefully,
the camera is designed better than the website!

I have no clue why they insist that you have a serial number to be
able to print it, but looking at it on-line as a PDF is good enough
for my needs.

***SOMETIMES*** you can download a printable, English language, PDF manual
from the Nikon Taiwan website (i.e., no Nikon ownership required).  I do
agree that their attitude is deplorable.  I was able to download and print
the D200 manual quite some time back due to my D70 ownership and I feel that
helped them (Nikon) to be able to sell me one (D200)...if I hadn't already
been somewhat familiar with the camera and been able to look up everything I
wanted to know about it in advance, I may not have purchased it or at least
not so quickly.

Do you have a URL for the Knowledge Base? I can't find it on
www.nikonusa.com, and google comes up blank too.

Yes, you are looking in the wrong place.
