I'm a designer who's recently been heavily dependent on stock photos
and need one now that should get the attention of your 'typical'
photographer/hobbyist....

If there was in image/photo that "WOW's" a lensman more than any other
what would that be?

Your comments are highly appreciated. Thank you.

The things we hate most in life often turn out to be a mirror image
of ourselves. Better not to hate.

Well, to meet all the above criteria, may I suggest the strking black
and white shot of Elle McPherson, arching her back and looking upwards,
au naturelle...

Undoubtedly, Eva Herzigova in the 1994 "Wonderbra" billboard advert.

Why?  Because the advert was linked with a significant rise in road
traffic accidents at a site in West London, England.  Police believed
that the advert, showing Herzigova wearing the Wonderbra and little
else, with the byline "Hello Boys!", was distracting large numbers of
male motorists using the busy A4 route into London past the largest
billboard site in Europe, near Earl's Court, causing the accident rate
to increase several times over.  After several weeks on display, the
advert was replaced and the accident rate returned to a lower level.

I've heard stories of similarly themed posters having the opposite
effect due to motorists slowing down to get a better look.

No telling what will WOW any given lensman unless you know the lensman.
Typical?  What the hell is that?  Photographers capture the whole range of
human visual experience.

Seriously?  Depends on the lensman.  We are all different, just like the
people who view our photos.  For one it might be a nude.  For another it
might be a tack sharp macro photo.

Seriously, for me, just about any type of photo, but ...

... it has to be an EXCEPTIONAL photo.

I've seen images of flowers - landscapes - portraits - and more - that just
make me stop and think "Wow - that's one damn fine photo - bastard!" :)

What are you selling? Find the unique value in that product & show it
off with the picture. If it's a fast sharp lens, show something crisp
corner to corner that also has beautiful soft out of focus areas, if
it's a camera body with fast burst mode show an amazing sports or
wildlife shot that captures a once in a lifetime moment. And throw in a
naked lady whichever way it goes <g>.
