Hi,
can I use the lens FD (e.g. Canon FD 1,4/50mm MF) together with Canon
20D in Manual Mode?
Thanks for reply,
rene

Yes, you can, but you need an adapter. The adapter has a Canon EF
mount to fit the camera and a Canon FD mount to fit the lens. Canon
used to offer such an adapter - maybe Canon still does. But there are
third-party adapters readily available too.
The FD lens has to be used in stopped down mode.

Adorama sells an adapter for $40, but it's been out of stock for some
time. It's part number is CZFDEOSA.
I built such an adapter for my Rebel XT and FD100mm f/4 macro lens by
cannibalizing a 2x teleconverter for its FD mount. I drilled a 1.5"
hole in an EOS body cap with a hole saw and put the two together with
duct tape. It's not elegant, nor structurally sound, but it works very
well for the lens. Of course, you lose infinity focus.

It answers all your questions and some you didn't even know enough to
ask.

Best just to accept that you are an orphan. The canon adaptors only
worked with specific long lenses. I wouldn't trust the Adorama adaptor
as it costs $40 and would probably greatly diminish your lens
resolution.
I'm in the same camp with 2 F1's and a half dozen lenses, but just
bought a Nikon D200, and am buying most of my glass on Ebay to cut
costs. Both lenses I have bought so far have been very good. Two more
and I should be satisfied (for now). Most jobs I'm looking at are
editorial and the magazines want digital.
