Split Focus Screens

This is another question for the newsgroup.  As
I continue to play with my Pentax DL, then I find
the need to use my manual focus irresistable.  I
want to focus on a certain object for effect or
perhaps I'm using my manual prime lenses or a
old manual zoom from Pentax.  Why doesn't the
DL come with some focusing aids?  I can't stand
the matte finish.  I had just assumed that I was
buying a DSLR with a split focus screen at
the bare minimum.  I wished that I expected it
in the store instead of ordering from the catalog.

What are my options and the limitations?  It
doesn't seem like BH carries a replacement
setup for split focusing.

thanks
bill

Are these going to affect A/E?  Thanks
for the reply and the other fellow too.

They can affect metering, but if and how much depends on the exact
screen and camera model.  The screen manufacturer should have
information on this.  Autofocus is never affected though.
