Not that I expect many here to notice or care, but Pentax has announced
a 10MP DSLR camera with APS-sized sensor as well as a medium format
(yes, medium format) digital that they will be displaying but not
demoing at PMA next week.

Neither are particularly unexpected. Pentax is well respected in MF circles
and if they want to stay in business they had to bring out a succesor to the
D/DS/DS2/DL line.

True; most people who know Pentax have long assumed cameras like these
would be coming at some point.  Although I found it interesting that
there were relatively very few credible/specific rumors floating
around - after the Samsung deal, many people did not know what to expect
or when to expect it.

Oh, Pentax also annoucned some new lenses, including "digital" (read:
APS-sized) 16-50 and 50-135 2.8's, and while no specifics are available,
the prevailing wisdom on dpreview.com seems to be that these will be
considerably smaller than closest equivalents from other companies - on
the order of a 67mm thread size.

I already have the digital only 16-45mm F4.0 AL ED and it is a keeper.

I care Marc. For Olympus users, PMA has been chocked full of great
announcements. I'm glad that Pentax users are receiving encouraging news
too.
