Yes, the Canon PowerShot S2IS is OK to use the high speed SD card.
After much urging from the senior family photographer (me), my daughter and
son-in-law purchased the new Canon PowerShot S2IS. It is a GREAT camera.

It uses Canon's "new", current generation image processor DiGicII which has
all but eliminated shutter lag with the proper settings. It also sports a
USB2 interface.
I use the Ultra II card from Sandisk. Of course, as a 20D user, it is a
CF-type card but, based on its good performance, I see no reason their SD
version wouldn't perform as well.

Of course, I just went to the Canon site to discover there is a NEW Canon S3
IS. Gee. Who would have thought THAT would happen? <big grin>

GOD DAMMIT!
You made me look.
I bought the S1 and still love that camera. The S2 took it from 3MP to 5MP
and 10X to 12X, but I couldn't justify stepping up one year after having
bought the S1.
Now I've had the Rebel XT for about 3 months, and Canon's bringing out this
S3. (Taking stills WHILE shooting in video mode? Kewl.) As much as I'd love
to have this new model, I think I'll just buy lenses for the Rebel...
Damn.
