I'm using Nikon Capture 4 with all the updates & it works fine except when I
try to convert NEF files into JPG using batch processing it crashes after
the first 2 files & creates an error log.

The problem is why does it crash & where do I find the error log.

Best Wishes

And you don't even have the courtesy of mentioning the OS you use, or
anything else about your system. Are we supposed to be clairvoyant?

OK, so that leaves of the XP SP2 DEP issue.

Do you have this most recent update?

We have addressed an issue that caused Nikon Capture Editor to quit
unexpectedly with some computer systems when images were adjusted using the
Color Boost slider displayed by selecting Better Quality (HQ) in the
D-Lighting palette.

After this I would contact Tech Support. A work around until them might be
to use RawShooter Essentials, unless you have a D200.

Check your settings to where you save the converted files!
A friend of mine tried to save back to the memory card in
his card reader! Then it craches! Also if you try to save to a
CD/DVD. Make a new folder on your hard drive.

I have downloaded all the updates for Nikon Capture 4, my camera is a D70.
If I don't use Batch Processing but File Save As for more than 2 images the
same thing happens. I get a feeling the processor maybe a bit quick (Intel
64 bit 3.4 Ghz , 2gb of RAM) for the software. All software including
Windows 2000 is up to date.

Just tried to install NC4.2 on my new XP x64 machine and the install
routine says NC is not compatible with this OS. NC4.4 demo installed and
ran fine on a batch job of 54 raw files from my D70. Athlon 64 x2, 2GB ram.
NC4.2 runs fine on my old W2k machine on an Athlon XP3200+ with 1GB.
I've pretty much given up using NC so haven't upgraded it on the old PC.

I'll have to agree here.
Nikon isn't a software company.

I emailed Nikon about theproblem & they advised me to swoitch off the HTT in
the BIOS.I assume that would slow the processor down. But before I rec'd the
reply I uninstalled the NC4.4 & reinstalled it from the CDROM (which is 4.3)
and it now works fine.
