I'm new to this newsgroup but recently bought a D50 and love it! However, I may
be "missing the forest for the trees", but I can't seem to find anywhere in the
manual where it says how to display the date in the image. My old Kodak 3600
displayed the date whether I wanted it or not but I thought that particular
feature would be available, perhaps as an option, on the D50. I can setup the
date without any problem, but can't seem to find if it can be displayed in the
image. Thanks!

Nope. If you want the date in your images, you need to use a software
solution to add it. A free program for Windows is Irfanview, which will do
this. You are aware that the exif data contained in the files contains the
date and time the photo was taken right? So as long as you use an editor
which preserves exif, it's always there. Irfanview will also read and
display this. Just be sure to get and install the plugins as well if you
install it.

Hi Ed,

Many thanks for your reply! I had been through the manual several times and
decided it couldn't be done! I have an older version of Irfranview (3.61) but I
don't know if has that capability, but I'll certainly take a look. I think their
latest is 3.97.

Check out the Nikon Europe support site. There is an answer there
giving details how to display the date, etc., using the normal Nikon
software - PictureProject, etc.

Thanks for the tip! I took Ed's previous suggestion to use my IrfanView to
insert the date and it worked fine but I had forgotten about PictureProject.
However, when I tried it I must have missed something because when I set up the
print, it only inserted today's date (or last accessed date) and not the date
created!
