Is there a site where I can download sample RAW files from different
manufactures?  I'd like a sample from Olympus, Nikon, Pentax, and Sony
(already own Canon).

Thanks

See    http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/oly-e/e500-smp/e500-raw-1.orf for an
Olympus raw file from an E-500.  The author warns that it's 13.4 MB.

Thanks, I got a Nikon via email, too. Now if someone with a Pentax and Sony
could please help me, too....

Thanks again.

Here's a Pentax .pef I just uploaded:

OBLIGATORY WARNING: This is a 10.4MB file.

Please let me know (here) if there is any problem downloading it.

Cheers

Nice sample! :-)

Thanks

It *did*?
Bizarro.

I uploaded it as a pef, and I downloaded it (to test it) twice - once at
home and once at work.  Both times it saved as a pef, which I had to convert
in order to view.

Do you have an image converter program installed which is associated with
.pef files - and by default auto-converts them to tif?

I can't think of any other explanation.
(It *is* a pef file - trust me!)

That's a common occurance. I don't know what causes it but all
you have to do is rename the file from *.tif to *.pef (or *.nef for Nikon)

CS2 recognized it OK as a Pentax file and loaded up ACR even though it had
the tif extension.

That happens here, too, with both IE and Firefox.  They get nosey, see
the embedded TIF header, and add the ".tif" extension.

I respectfully ask, what is the point?
Unless all the images were taken at the same time, of the same subject,
lighting and settings, you are comparing apples with oranges,

Not if your intention is to examine file formats, which is what I *guessed*
was the case.
