Will the D200 allow me to use this flash in a TTL metered fashion or is it
strictly a manual affair

No TTL, but It works ok with Automatic (A) mode (and manual of
course). I use my SB-28 on my D70. Works well the few times I use it,
won't buy a SB-800 before the SB-28 explodes :-)
