I am 99.9% sure that I will buy the Minolta 5D. Now, any recommendations of where to buy it. I won't buy at a retail store, just because I will be paying hundred's of dollars more. I have a great fear of the Brooklyn online retailers (due to past experience).
B&H Photo has been very good to me. Are there other dealers out there with a great price and great reputation?

B&H and Adorama are very trustworthy sources. I don't know if there are
others in NY that should be trusted as much. (There may be, I've just
never heard of them).
"hundred's of dollars more"? I've occasionally saved money by buying at
a local retailer over what B&H could offer. Not all the time, but for
various reasons it does happen. Further, you can try haggling with your
local retailer to get the price down to a point where it's worth saving
on the shipping. While I have the upmost respect for B&H, if I can get
a better deal (or even a less better deal by $50 - $100) locally I'll
give the business locally.
Cheers,
Alan

I just checked the 2 local photo retailers price. It is $150 more than B&H
Photo. I may go to the local retailer and ask if they will meet their cost.

Good idea. Even if they don't "go all the way", the convenience of the
local outlet if anything goes wrong may be worth paying a few dollars more
for.

Don't top post.
Calculate the full cost of B&H (cost + S&H + NY sales taxes if you live
in that state) v. the local guys cost + taxes.

Ouch, I forgot about sales tax. If I buy locally, I will pay 7% on top of
the cost of the camera. If I buy through an out-of-state online retailer
(like B&H), I will pay no sales tax.
