Greetings all,

I'm about to purchase a D200 here in Japan where I live, and am searcing for
an English user's manual online. No luck yet at Nikon USA or Europe. Does
anyone know where one might be hiding?

TIA,

Toby

Ever learn how to use google and look at more than the first page?

Thanks Paul,

Unfortunately the file seems corrupted. I was hoping someone might know a
different link.

I appreciate the civil reply.

Yes, a.shole, I dl'd it right before posting the link. Use the "I've
mirrored it on my server" link. It's still valid.

Oh, by the way, thanks for all your contributions to this forum other than
asking for the obvious.

I've tried downloading it at least five times--the mirrored link--and each
time have come up with an error message saying that the file is corrupt and
cannot be repaired.

In terms of contributing to the forum--I really need to have a dslr before I
can contribute anything of value. Judging by your attitude I wonder if it
would be worth pursuing.

I asked a simple question politely and you barreled in rudely like I was
some kind of idiot. A simple link would certainly have sufficed.

I'm a semi-professional photographer who makes some money from the Photonica
photo agency. I've been using Nikon equipment for more than 40 years and am
happy that finally I can use all my old MF lenses with a dslr body. I was
certainly looking forward to being part of the dslr brotherhood until I ran
into you.

Both links work.  What is confusing you is however they have it setup you
don't realize you're downloading it until it's complete and Acrobat opens.
If you want an indication it is downloading watch your LAN LED on the front
of your computer or look at it in the SYS Tray.

BTW> You will like the D200.  I started playing with mine this afternoon and
so far it is nice.

Thank you Rita. I'll keep trying.

What happens for me is that after the file is finished downloading an
Acrobat Reader window pops up saying that the file is damaged and cannot be
repaired. Since it doesn't open there is no way to save it.

Frustrating :-/ I can live with the Japanese manual but it isn't going to be
easy...

Just do a right click and "Save Target As".  You might have an older version
of Acrobat?  Then again, sometimes the latest version of Acrobat has
problems.  Once you have the file on your computer you can worry about
Acrobat later.

Bless you Rita, that worked like a charm :-})

I've got Acro Reader 7.0, so I don't know why it wouldn't open directly in
Firefox, but "save target as" worked perfectly.

There is often a lot of noise on usenet, but plenty of signal too ;-)

I apologize to Ed Ruf, although I still think he could brush up on his
manners.

Thanks again,

If you don't know how to right click and save as so be it. That's not my
fault.  Do yourself a favor and set Acrobat Reader not to load the plugin.
That way you should be asked to either save to a file or open in the full
version of Acrobat Reader. You should also consider giving IE a try for
those times FF doesn't work before asking multiple forums for help.

Ed, you really ought to be careful before going home.  Your mother may run
out from under the porch and bite you!

What is the big problem in asking for some help? I've d/l'ded numerous
.pdf's in exactly the same manner (left-click and wait for the d/l to
complete, then save). This is the first time I've gotten an error message
saying that the file was damaged and couldn't be repaired--it sure looked
like a corrupt file. So I asked, Rita responded nicely and that's the end of
the problem. Not too complicated.
