Sigma 28-300mm new DG series

or

Tamron 28-300mm Xr Di

I know neither is the worlds best at anything but which one and why.

If money is no contraint then why not consider the Canon EF 28 - 300mm
f3.5-5.6L IS USM too?

If money was not in the equation do you think I would look at these lenses?
Is there an adapter to fit my Pentax?

I would take a Tamron over a Sigma anyday of the week.

I am actually thinking along the same lines at the moment but also thinking
that I might just get a AF360FGZ flash instead and stay with my 50-200mm. I
have a 400FTZ and it is a monster.

Cheers

Pete:
In making this kind of decision, you must take into consideration which
distributor gives the best service for the lens in your country.  That is a
must in the decision equation.
For example, I'm in Canada now and would not touch Tamron with a 100ft
pole because of the service policies of the distributor in Canada.  In the
USA, Tamron USA is great.
It makes a difference.  Learn which products the distributor handles
then either support them as well as they support you or buy other products
or find other sources for those products.  Other sources are always
available.

In Australia, Tamron is distributed by Maxwell, the distributor of Nikon
equipment.

Joan:
Then, in that case I would investigate their after sales support to the
extent I was satisfied, before doing business with them.  There are too many
good suppliers out there to support anyone who doesn't support you.
