Well it has to be. It's much more affordable than the top Canon, gives the old folks home people the full frame sensor they NEED and isn't too heavy so regular shooters won't mind lugging it around. But the sample images, especially the landscape were not great. The landscape (to me) still looks odd. Apart from the optical problems of the lens(?) the sky looks like it was grafted into the picture. I hope they do sell well and I'm sure they will. I see NOTHING wrong with the camera, just hope canon comes out with a new WA zoom to work on it and I'll probably buy one too. Given today's technology and the fact these are ALL retrofocus lenses, they should be able to design a wide zoom that performs well. If I wanted to use a prime, I could just use the zeiss one, which was designed a LONG time ago. I think everyone recognises that Canon changed the world (of digital photography) forever with the EOS 300D/Rebel, the first affordable DSLR. Now they have changed the world (ditto) once again, with the EOS 5D, the first affordable full frame (24x36mm) DSLR. In terms of the DSLR market, the 5D is every bit as significant as the 300D was. Of course the EOS 5D will be one of the best selling DSLRs ever. It will almost certainly be the best selling full frame (24x36mm) DSLR for the next couple of years. I don't think you're right about Nikon developing a 35mm sized sensor. Nikon seems to be forging ahead with new DX glass and the smaller sensor. That's plain wrong. At $3200, 5D won't be the best selling dSLRs. The crown should belong to 350D and D50. Now that we no longer have go through a "middle man" to enjoy (or curse) our own work, it busted the doors wide open. This NG has little market influence. As to the camera, if pixels/$ in FF are a benchmark, it looks like it will have a very large following even before the innevitable price rolldown and rebates.
