Cheapest wired remote is at:
The Canon version is $50 from B&H, search for RS-80N3.
There are after-market RF wireless remotes that cost about $150. I
really wish that Canon had included an IR receiver on the 20D so a cheap
IR remote could be used.

Have you checked out some of the home automation dealers for cheaper
after-market RF remotes?
(like www.smarthome.com) They do get used in home automation projects and I
don't recall them
being quite as pricey as you mentioned.

The $150 _is_ the aftermarket remote!

X-10 remotes are RF -- My two channel one was around $30 with a receiver and
my 16 channel transmitter remote was around $20...don't know if they'll work
for your usage (don't even know what frequency they transmit on...the
sixteen channel ones can be set to a number of different frequencies (A-F
dial + 0-15 dial). If you are in the SF Bay area, there is a good home
automation store in Cupertino...it might pay to go in and see if something
will work for you. Good luck...$150 is a bit steep.

No it can't.
