It's already an exciting time for Four Thirds users, with three new
wide aperture zooms already announced and two new E System DSLR bodies
under development.  Now comes the fish-eye:

A bold step, releasing such a niche lens for what is arguably also a niche
system. The compact point and shoot business must be booming :)

"Niche" in your eyes maybe, but not to the people who use (and love) the
system.

Looks interesting. The one I thought was more interesting though was the
underwater housings for the E300 and lenses & flashes.

Oh yeah, and I download the firmware updates for my E300.

Indeed.  This shows Olympus has a very strong commitment to the future
of the E System.

Any good features?

Umm, mirror lock-up mode, and a couple other minor tweaks. I don't
really read the specs, I just see "OOOOOH! Latest stuff!"

I do remember I had to reinstall the Olympus Master software to download
and install the patch.

Thanks Brion.  Sounds like it's worth a look.

Did you have any other problems downloading the firmware? I spent almost
an hour on the Olympus help line Friday trying to make it work. I could
connect with the camera, but not with the server. Olympus thinks it
might be because I'm on a Mac (OS 10.3.8), but I don't understand why
that should make a difference. I had the firewall turned off.

Has anyone else on a Mac been successful? If so, any ideas?

Nope, I've got WinXP and I just "push de button" and it worked.
