Depends how you work - at a recent week long event I had 3 x 2GB cards,
but only used about 1.5 cards. Every night I backed up what I had taken
that day. So I was using it as backup, not to increase capacity (although
that would have been another option).

Of course, but perhaps the likelihood of both your cards and your portable
storage being lost or stolen can be less if you store and carry them
separately.

For me, a portable is far too big and heavy to carry, unless it is
essential (e.g. on a business trip). It also makes a much more obvious
target at airports and stations. I find the Epson P-2000 much more
convenient, but each to his own.
