Zinnick - 24 Dec 2004 00:22 GMT > Merry Christmas from Italy! > Adriano Thankyou. However, it is not fashionable in the USA to use the "C" word in the current PC climate. Merry Holidays or Merry Festivus is acceptable though.

I'll second that. Stop before it all gets too crazy.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL.

When I heard it I just thought it was a joke.
Happy Xmas from Sweden BTW.
Here we have Christmas although the Christianity is not all that fashionable and we have a King although he has no real power. So - tradition is not all that fashionable.

Jer - 24 Dec 2004 15:39 GMT >>However, it is not fashionable in the USA to use the "C" word in the >>current PC climate. Merry Holidays or Merry Festivus is acceptable >>though. > > Is this for real? Yup.
> When I heard it I just thought it was a joke. It is a joke, not that it was intended to be. Considering the rampant materialism that has morphed Jesus into Santa "The Paragon of 4Q Earnings", a lot of folks can't stand themselves this time of year, so there's always someone picking on someone else.
> Happy Xmas from Sweden BTW. Feliz Navidad y Progresso Ano Neuvo de Mexico, Senor.

It is just hype by the Christian fundamentalists, who use scare tactics to make people think that they are under attack from the left wing.
No one (who matters, that is) objects to the greeting "Merry Christmas" in the US, although in recognition of the fact that everyone celebrating the year-end holidays (which is, by the way, another religious word, "holy day") are not Christians, the greeting "Happy Holidays" is also popular. Don't know where you got the "Merry Festivus" though (I have never heard that in the US).
In fact, President Bush, an avowed Christian, this year wished everyone "Happy Holidays," not "Merry Christmas."
> When I heard it I just thought it was a joke. Those who would try to scare us into thinking our Christian heritage and religion is in danger of being destroyed (as if that were possible) are not joking.
> Happy Xmas from Sweden BTW. And a Merry Christmas to you as well. But be careful with the use of "Xmas." Some fundamental (and ignorant) Christians in the U.S. object to what they see as substituting "X" for the name of Christ, not realizing that "X" is the Greek "Chi" the initial letter in the word Christ.
> Here we have Christmas although the Christianity is not > all that fashionable and we have a King although he has > no real power. So - tradition is not all that fashionable. That's correct. Traditions, language and celebrations change over time; but underlying religious truths do not.

Merry Holidays or Merry Festivus is acceptable [quoted text clipped - 11 lines] > > /Roland No, it is not a joke. Not only have some of the Muslims f.cked up the world with terrorism, but now the PC brigade do not wish to offend them. Our culture is on a slippery slope and the economy is f.cked with all the expenditure on Iraq and Afghanistan. And still Dubya, Rumsfeld and cohorts tell us that we are winning the war on terrorism. If this is winning I would hate to be on the losing side. Nontheless, a very Merry Christmas to all Christians and let us hope that 2005 is a safer year than 2004. God Bless every single one of you.
goldenmike4393@yahoo.com - 25 Dec 2004 15:37 GMT It's simple.
When someone wishes you "Happy Holidays", you return a big MERRY CHRISTMAS especially if you think it will bother them.
That's what I do. I offend them intentionally. They do nothing to tone down their barbaric Mulsimism and believe me, they offend the entire world each time they cut off a head.

"All things therefore that you want people to do to you, do thus to them." (Matthew 7:12)
I bet Jesus would be so proud of how well you do following the golden rule. (In the spirit of the holiday, I'm not going to say anything more to you about this topic. If you reply with an unchristian reply, it will not be answered. That is my holiday gift to you, enjoy.)
Please accept without obligation, express or implied, these best wishes for an environmentally safe, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, and gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday as practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice (but with respect for the religious or secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or for their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all) and further for a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated onset of the generally accepted calendar year (including, but not limited to, the Christian calendar, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures). The preceding wishes are extended without regard to the race, creed, age, physical ability, religious faith or lack thereof, choice of computer platform, or sexual preference of the wishee(s). goldenmike4393@yahoo.com - 25 Dec 2004 21:23 GMT How about this...
Go to hell. I don't tell them how to worship, why should they restrict my way?
Like I said, go to hell.

Michelle Steiner - 25 Dec 2004 22:19 GMT > Go to hell. I don't tell them > how to worship, why should > they restrict my way? Exactly who is trying to restrict the way you worship, and how are they trying to do it?

Furthermore, Islam is no more barbaric than Christianity--it's no less barbaric, for that matter.
So, have a merry f.cking Christmas, a.shole! I hope you enjoy your lump of coal, because that's all that Santa is going to give jerks like you.

Michelle Steiner - 26 Dec 2004 02:52 GMT > You're hilarious! And you're a putz.
> Like I said, MERRY CHRISTMAS Too bad you don't understand the meaning of Christmas or of being Christian. No one who deliberately offends others for the sake of being offensive is Christian, so you're no Christian.
> emphasis on "Christ" the Only Way. The only way for you, perhaps, but not the only way for everyone. But not even for you, because you're no Christian. You may pretend to be Christian, but you are not Christian.
So Merry f.cking Christmas to you.
