At least canon got a mention..

"Most Complete Lens Line (tie): Canon / Nikon"

I'm sure the 4/3 bashers aren't going to like this guy..

Why because Olympus managed to get one winner? Too bad it's matched up
against a noisy chip.

Good thing everyone here and everywhere else only shoots nighttime
clubs scenes
and the like.  Take a look at most of the
galleries on the net.  95% of the images are
shot in well-lit areas or outside.  So 5%
of the time the average person will care about potential noise.
However, MANY more should care about mediocre lens quality, a problem
that seems to afflict
a few mfgs, Olympus not being one of them.
That is, unless you pony up at least $1000/ea for higher end lenses,
but then your DSLR package just went from $1200 to $2000+.

Olympus IMHO not going to be a player much longer. They are closing
factories (Ohmachi and Sakaki) and laying off (at last count) 4,000
employees to reach 10,000 job cuts by September 2005. Olympus and the 4/3
systems is the APS of the 2000's.

LOL and they were making their low end P&S's there. Just because olympus
lost money on the P&S doesn't mean their dSLR's are going anywhere...

First if the noise game, then FUD about olympus going under....

And next you'll say "I really couldn't care less what happens.."  :-)

Many low end Olympus P&S are outsource to Sanyo. So perhaps you should do
more homework. Olympus had great cameras im the OM-1/OM-2, 3 and 4 they made
some great rangefinder RC and RD. The OM mount Zuikos were steller. They
fell a sleep and came up with jokes like the OM101 and the OM88

> First if the noise game, then FUD about olympus going under....

Accept the fact Olympus slipped to a second tier maker, due to bad managment
decisions. The 4/3 is just another bad choice. None of the major makers
jumped on 4/3, maybe they still remember APS.

> And next you'll say "I really couldn't care less what happens.."  :-)

IMHO... Olympus missed the AF boat, and they suffered for it.

Interesting that the new ZD's are even better.. Wait that's what this thread
is about, their good optics.. Wonder why you jumped in with your FUD post?

They've -never- been a "top seller" in any SLR marketplace.

Maybe they didn't want to share the lens mount? How many "majors" jumped
onto the pentax M42 mount? Canon and Nikon sure didn't want any part of
that either. Also I suppose you missed panasonic getting on board with
olympus with 4/3?

The main reason C/N kept their old mounts was so they wouldn't have to do
any development work on new optics and keep people buying the film lenses
they recovered the development money on YEARS ago. For them to get onboard
with 4/3 would require them to develop new optics, why would they want to
do that?

Time will tell whether all the FUD being spread about by people like you has
any validity, just like the intel chip fans did with AMD and still do. I'm
sure when the E3 comes out there will be new things to dream up?

Doesn't mean much.  IBM had 410,000 employees in 1987, now they have
less than 200,000.  They're still around.

Actually, because it was matched up against some of the very best "L" and
"ED" lenses the big guys have ever made. Well done Olympus! That's nice
recognition.

Actually, 'tis two winners, best digital zoom and best overall lens line
quality.  One award not given that Oly might have won, too, was highest
average priced digital lens line...

You have a point, the glass is pricey. Imagine Canon introducing the
Rebel/RebelXT and only offering "L-series" lenses for it.

But neither Olympus nor Canon did that.  There are still inexpensive
Olympus zooms.  However, if Canon did do it, no one would be shooting
pictures with lenses that can't hope to keep up to what the sensors
are capable of.

Imagine canon selling a rebel with a decent kit lens, wait how about selling
it with 2 decent kit lenses?  :-)

Nah that's not going to happen...

Olympus is so worried that they are giving customers the 40-150MM 3.5/4.5
for free when you buy the E300. But it's still hard to sell the camera as
the ergonomics are bad.

Most innovative Lens for DSLRs

> I'm sure the 4/3 bashers aren't going to like this guy..

More than just one...
And nobody's bashing the lenses, just the sensor...

Possibly because even I'm not sure that one is justified.  Canon's DSLR
specific IS vs. Oly's DSLR specific f2 zooms?  I'm not sure which is more
innovative...
