Last night I was testing some 3 years O of D 5x7 Polymax II RC
N surface. In three tests I did not see a good black. Is that usual
with old paper or is that the N surface? Dan

Usual with old paper and Semi matte, semi matte papers typically
have a dmax around 1.55 as opposed to 2.oo to 2.15 for glossy.

What happens if you develop the paper with the room lights on?
That should produce a max D-Max.
My experience with old paper is that it fogs, looses sensitivity
and becomes low contrast. Sometimes Benztriazole and long
exposure times were able to salvage it for printing proofs.

My experience with Polymax II RC is that the Dmax dies in undeveloped
paper, 1-2 years out-of-date.
Drove me nuts at first...
