Thanks again for recommendations about steel reels a few days ago.  I
received my Hewes reel today, and loaded it perfectly on the first try.
I can't believe how much time I wasted with the Kalt.

By the way, B&H sells Hewes under the "King-Concept" brand.  It came in
an Omega/Satter box.  It's listed on their website,
http://www.omegasatter.com, as "Professional Stainless Steel Reel,
35mm," part number 140PDR35, list price $28.95.  They also refer to it
as "Omega Tundra's Premium performance reel."

I'm putting all this in one spot because I spent too long sifting
through all the different names under which the Hewes reels are sold.
They're probably all the same thing, but this is what worked for me.

Thanks again for your help.

Right, King Concept (sounds like old stock).  I fell in love with Hewes in
the 70's when I was using an King Concept Imagemaker film processor.  It's a
rotary unit, sort of like a Sidekick, Jobo or Wing-Lynch.  Boss was using
Paterson reels but the film tended to unload in the tube so we bought the
recommended Hewes reels which came with clips to prevent film from unwinding
.  Got along fine after I taught him how to load 'em.  Loved Hewes ever
since.
