I should have mentioned the program works under Windows but
not under Mac or linux.

hmm... it doesn't seem to work under XP either. Black screen with blinking
DOS cursor, that's all, computer hangs.

hmm, hmm, hmm...
I have it working under XP Home, XP Pro/sp2, ME and DOS.
It is actually a DOS program, it came from a product simulator
written some time ago. Borland BGI for what it is worth. It runs
full screen though it can be reduced to a window in 95/98/ME.
More hmm....
A little bit of digging reveals some VGA cards under XP won't
work with BGI - sorry, for now I guess it won't work on those
computers. I will work on porting it to a new graphics interface...
