This spring I shot a couple of TMZ in Xtol at iso 800 and I liked quite a
lot but as I´m planing on moving to Ilford and as I never have enough time
to make trials I´d like to ask you about how you would compare TMZ/Xtol and
Delta3200 in ID-11.

What I appreciated the most in kodak´s combination was the tight grain and
the tones.

I´d like to share one of the pics I took:

i'll talk about films exposed at ei3200.

i think that it depends on your likes and dislikes.
imvho, tmx+tmax dev isn't that nice. for my subjects --i often shoot
jazz concerts and other very "moody" subjects--, delta3200 + rodinal
gives me better results. grain is a little bit thinner, but far
smoother than tmz. i mean: even if the grain size isn't very
different, the shape of the grain is, and i really disliked kodak.

the other thing is that tmz + tmax dev were more contrasty than
delta3200 + rodinal --1+50, as from digitaltruth-- and were harder to
print --and still gave me no good results--.

delta3200 gave me nice --or, at least, usable-- results even when
pushed 1 or 2 stops.

hope this helps.

yes, i'm sorry. the op was talking about tmz+tmax developer and i
miswrote it.

but i've shot also a couple of tmx and tmy rolls, developed in tmax
dev, and results weren't any different: the grain is thinner, but i
don't like the extreme contrast of that film and the shape of grain.
deltas are more equilibrate and grain is nicer, imvho.
