Excuse my ignorance, I don't have a darkroom (yet), and Ilfochrome is
probably out of my league anyway.

I just bought a bunch pf filter stuff and there was a box of Ilfochrome
filtes 0.05-0.5? in three colors plus UV.

Do these also work for VC b/w paper?

Are they the same colors/numbers as CC filters?

Thanks

Murray

No, they'll be Magenta/Cyan and yellow filters for the Cibachrome paper.
We use them every day at work - we throw away the cyan, and just use the
magenta and yellow.
There is a lot of difference between different batches of Ilford
Cibachrome film, some use no filters, others need 45Y and 30M to give
acceptable colour. Our filters are supplied by ilford and come in
multiples of 5  - 5 being a very thin colour, through to 30 which is
quite dense.
I suppose they could be used with B+W VC paper, but you'd need either a
calibration chart, or do a few tests to see how they perform.

Anyone that can learn B&W can learn Ilfochrome just as easily.

Hi Murray,

The filters are fine for Black & White.  They will also due well for printing
color negatives.  I use them all the time.  I generally try to make some
experiments to coordinate certain combinations of filters with standard B&W
Grades of paper for faster production, then I put the whole thing on a chart.
And, yes, they are pretty much the same colors and numbers as CC filters.
