I just started some experimenting with Ryuji's suggested formulas for
film and paper developers that are based upon Dimezone S/Ascorbic acid
combinations.  I've had nice, initial results on my first tests and
was curious about anyone else that has some experience with any of
these.

He has some interesting reading at his silvergrain site:

He has some very interesting reading. FX-1 and
variations of that are favorites of his.
Is he still active?                                      Dan

He seems quite active on the pure-silver list
(http://www.freelists.org/list/pure-silver).

I did some printing of test shots and Christmas snaps yesterday and it
seemed that it was one of the easiest printing sessions I've ever had.
The negatives with his DS-10 looked perhaps a bit flat but they
printed beautifully with creamy skin tones, tight grain, the kind of
"edgieness" I find appealing, good highlight control and nice shadow
detail.  I was also trying out his DS-14 print developer.  I was just
doing some quick, multiple, straight prints for sharing with family
and got by perfectly with 0-40 range magenta on MG RC Ilford.
I was shooting with a mixed bag of 35mm FP4 and 120 HP5.

DS-10 is a fine developer. Times are a bit longer as with XTol. I have
yet to find a downside compared to the commercial product besides the
need to weigh in a handfull of chemicals. OTOH I can make small, fresh
batches at will instead of a minimum of 5L. I tried it with Neopan 1600
and 400 and both seem to like DS-10 the same way they like XTol: fine
grain, good speed, good sharpness, nice tonality.
