[Ilfotec DD is 'Dip & Dunk' is designed for the automated, replenished
processing of commercial quantities of film on hangers; I had to look
it up ...]

What results are you looking for:

o normal continuous tone pictorial
o very high contrast pictorial
o microfilm/line art 'kodalith' results

D&D (excepting the 'magic dragon' type) isn't a process much used
by the members of this newsgroup (IWT).

That, however, will not stop a flood of opinions ...

I think we're just going to let this customer find someone else to develop
his film.  From my research it looks like it needs Rodinal, or something
like it, and we don't do hand processing.
Thanks anyway,
Lyn

Like Nicholas said, it depends on what results
the guy is looking for and how he shot it (ISO
exposure.) Rodinal will not produce normal
contrast with Tech Pan (I don't care what anyone
says...)

Tech Pan must be shot for a specific application/
purpose and developed accordingly. Normal contrast
requires a POTA type developer (such as TD-3 or
technidol.) I'm not sure if there are any labs that
do this or can do it well.

One that claims to is

A good idea.  It is often used with high-contrast processing for stark
effects in architectural photography ... but, nah.

But bad research.

For pictorial it needs Technidol, or in a pinch POTA/Delagia #8.

There is a Rodinal cult (hiding in basements everywhere, waiting
for the digital holocaust to pass) that does _everything_ in
Rodinal and claims even Tech Pan can be processed in the stuff.

It is possible to do it on a C-44 line, but use the developer only.
Results are contrasty, but OK if you have a lot of #1 paper...

> we don't do hand processing.

Hmphhh ... an opening line if I ever heard one ...

Ah, likely because they know rodinal stockpiled in a
basement (or bomb shelter) will still be good when
opened 100 years from now and thus will be the basis
for a new photographic society...

Well, it can be processed. I've done it myself.
But just because you can doesn't mean you should ;)
