Question on using C&H mat cutter

Hi,

I just purchased a used C&H mat cutter (a model CH4800-A in case that rings
a bell for anybody).  Previous to this I was using a Logan team system which
I had improved considerably by mounting it to a board.  The C&H is head and
shoulders above the Logan Team system.

Here is my question -

The cutter on the Logan had a little reference mark on it  that was used to
start and stop the cuts at the proper place.  I see no such reference mark
on the bevel cutter on the C&H unit.  I don't know what to use as a
reference to start and stop the cut.  As a result, I am constantly
overcutting the corners.

Can anybody with some experience with this cutter, or one like it, shed some
light on it for me?

Thanks,
Ira Idelson

I have a set of instructions for my second-hand C&H that shows an optional
set of detachable measuring stops (part number CH60) for these cutters. Mine
is equipped with these stops so I don't know the cost.

I uploaded scans of the three pages in the manual dealing with the measuring
stops to:
