I am a high school senior looking for a black and white enlarger. I do
not have much money, but I really want an an enlarger as I belive that
black and white photography is my true passion. Over the past nine
months, I have developed over 250 rolls of film, but during only a few
of those months have I had access to a darkroom, because of summer and
the budget cuts going on at my school, so I have many sheets of
negatives and very few prints to show from them.
Anyone that has an enlarger which they do not use (and one which I can
assure will be put to good, productive use) or knows where I could
purchase one at a reasonable price (I do not need a computerized Durst
enlarger, a simple 35mm would do! :) ), please reply to this thread
(and also e-mail me at abstraxion@razor.ws).
Thank you!

I presume you are not actually in Western Samoa, which is where your .ws web
site is registered. (Yes, officially .ws is Western Samoa.)
Can you tell us where you're located? Enlargers are bulky and hard to ship.
That actually increases your chances of getting one, because people can't
sell them over long distances.

in the FWIW category.
.ws = Western Samoa.
Talk about your shipping fees !

Just so everyone knows, I am located in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. The
.ws domain name is merely because I could not find the domain name I
wanted under the traditional .com, .net. or .org.
I'm still looking, so if anyone has any suggestions, I would be very
glad to hear them!
Thanks for your help.

In the past ten years I have been given two 5x7 Elwood Enlargers that
studios were throwing away, I bought a 4x5 Omega with two lenses for $100, A
Durst M-601 for $25(sans condensers but I had the condensers which I had
pulled from the M-601 I bought and put a color head on so no problem), and
just bought a B-600 Omega for under $20.00 (I kept the easel and gave the
enlarger to a friend). Look around, check schools, studios, newspapers--all
of which are rapidly converting to digital. Worst place to look is around a
group of die hard darkroom nuts like rec.photo.darkroom (OOPS, that's me).

Don't be patient. Truck on off to eBay. For enlargers search the catagory
or by brand. One tip; few 35mm only are available. Those that handle 120
and 35mm are more numerous. You'll find prices are very low and shipping
not that bad. Dan

I bought a DII from a guy in Missouri, he shipped it to me C.O.D. from a
pack and ship place, I paid a C.O.D. fee for each box, there were three, a
packing fee (since he didn't pack it himself) plus shipping. Missouri to
Iowa cost me $200. I had to borrow money from my boss until I could get to
the bank. If you cannot buy locally (and I see no reason why not) get the
freight charges stated in writing before you bid. And you won't find D-3's
on eBay for $100.

Hi
I am going to tell you what you don't want to hear. I at one time made my
living at Photography. Went to the best schools in the country to learn it.
Now I am retired.
Anyway, if I were you I would find someone that knows photography to look over
your negatives. You and he or she pick out 20 of your best shots of the 5000
or so images. Have them professionally scanned and corrected on the computer.
Find a friend that has a good electronic printer and print them out.
You will find that with normal silver enlarging, the expense is not the
equipment but the supplies.

Searching eBay for, enlarger, region Cleveland, catagory electronics,
I did find two 120 size enlargers; a Beseler 23CII and a very tempting
Nikor 6x7. No S&H. Dan
