I was shopping at a not-to-be-named professional photography store in
Seattle and, when I asked whether they carried Komnica IR film, was
told that it was not being produced - not discontinued, but that no
new batches being run at present. Since the staff at this store often
appears to be knowledge-deficient, can anyone substantiate this
statement? The film does still appear on the Konica website.

Yes, it is true and why don't your try MACO IR850, presuming it is still
made.

Maco 820 is a great film and I love it. I have many shots made with it here

It does have a stronger IR effect than the Konica film though. Maco 750nm
might be a closer replacement, although I've never tried it.

In the past the Konica has been a "seasonal" item, usually produced in March
and available until the supply is exhausted, the rest of the year is will be
listed as out of production. Big camera stores have no incentive to pursue
an item that is not in stock. Check with B&H, etc.

I hate to say this. Honestly - but Konica confirmed in April or May
that this year´s batch would be the last one and recommended to stock
up if you depend on it - I asked them myself, thats what the lady
replied by email (Konica Germany, then heavily troubled with the
fusion with Minolta)...

In the past Konica only used to produce the film once a year.
When the batch sold out, one had to wait for the next year's batch.
As I recall production was usually around February or March.
If you can't find any stock at the moment, maybe check again in
early 2005.
