OK it should be simple. But on the 45MX my carrier doesn't "lock" in at 90
degrees or 180 etc. so I seem to have problems with finding my reference
point on the board every time I put in a neg. Thx.

Well if you want to be technical ;-) You can paint a vertical line on
the enlarger where the carrier sits when its positioned to your liking.

Are you pushing them in far enough? On my enlarger if you push the carrier
in far enough it sort of drops in. It's still possible to turn it but it's
pretty obvious if the handle on the front is lined up.

One way is to draw a grid on the back of a piece of scrap enlarging paper. Put
this in your easel when setting up the print. Makes lining things up easier.
