Focotar-2 Question.

I have had the good fortune to obtain a Focotar-2 enlarging lens. Which
extension tube I need to get to use this lens lens on a Focomat 1C? I have the
tube marked "DOORX" on my enlarger, but I have heard that this tube is for the
older Focotar lens and it will not autofocus correctly with the later lens. Can
anybody out there help?

Thank You,

Mike Sullivan

I compared the tube in the eBay listing with the one I have. While the tube
shown in the listing is not marked like the one I have, it appears to be the
same size relative to the lens. Looks like I'm in business.

Thanks,

Mike Sullivan

You will only autofocus correctly with a new lens on a manual (as
opposed to electronic) autofocus enlarger if the cam is matched to the
specific lens you have by serial number. You need more then just the
right tube/board.

Be sure to tell us what you think of the lens. How did you get it?

Would you believe I got it on eBay for only $202.50? I made a couple of quickie
prints to check it out and I was shocked at how good it is. The lens that it
replaced is excellent, but the improvement with the Focotar is huge. I haven't
gotten around to adjusting the autofocus for the new lens yet, so all comparison
prints were made using manually focused lenses.

I'm NOT shocked at all. I KNOW how good it is. I have been watching
e-bay for these, just to see how much they go for, and that has been
in the $400-500 range.

I paid $175 for mine in 1977 or so, on dealer special.

What was the 'excellent' lens?
