Could this lens cover 6X4.5, or is it strictly for 35mm?

No, it has a circle of illumination of 60mm diameter, this
is too small for 4.5x6. The lens is intended for superslides
or 4x4 negatives.

I own an old Componon f5.6 60 mm (I think it is from the sixties), and
have found it covers perfectly this format (6x4.5). Nevertheless I had
to
alter the condenser set in my enlarger. With the standard set for 80 mm
lens I got severe vignetting. After adding a supplementary (positive)
lens,
the coverage was good, with good sharpness in the corners also.
I don't know if your lens is the same or different.
