dust all over negative

newbie in B/W printing..

got my negative all dirty, what's the best way to clean them?

    Carefully.

    And consider using a combination of compressed "air" such as
those sold by office supply stores for the cleaning of computer media.
Also  good quality paint brush (natural not artificial) will work
quite well.

doesnt anybody know of these?  why is everyone recommending air compressors
and stupid sh.t?

using a cloth to drag the junk across the film can possibly cause the junk to
scratch the film (same goes for filters and lenses).  If you don't touch it,
you can't scratch it, so the first attempt should be to blow it away. Also, if
you hit it with an anti-static gun first the junk blows away much easier.
