If there is one item that I feel is just too expensive in photography,
it's matt boards. Archival rag boards 2ply and 4ply, even at Light
Impressions is just too much, unless you're getting the big bucks. Has
anyone found any alternative sources? How bout a trip down south?
Would that scare up a reasonable bounty of tableros para las
fotografias? And then there's the exemplary hemp boards, kept from us
from that wicked man Hearst!! I just hate to think of how deprived
this world is of my images, just because I don't have anything left
over from the cameras,gas,film,paper,chemicals,electricity,etc.etc.etc.,
to put um'up.

You can order them directly from the distributor at about 1/2 the cost of
retail. The catch is you usually have to order a minimum of $250 at a time.
Find some others nearby and split an order.

Search this NG for, talasonline . Note that there is only one thread
which contains the word talasonline. I find that interesting.
They and two other outfits I've mentioned in my first post that
thread are major players in the supply of archival materials.
Don't let the "blotter" heading throw you. All three of those
companies carry a vast selection.
BTW, if you are interested in A flute corrugated board I have another
source for that. Also, after shopping here there and everywhere for
blotter paper, which the above do carry, I decided to make my own
using hydrophobic material. Dan

Just wondering if anyone had found any or all three of the firms
I suggested to be a good source for matt board? Perhaps some interested
individual might offer an evaluation of those three as sources for
matt board. Dan

Not me. I have to consider shipping costs as well, as they're sky high
these days. I found a wholesaler 100 miles from where I live and will make
the trip by car. I don't have the details yet as I had to sideline the
buy in favor of more printing paper. So I'm not even sure if the wholesale
outfit will sell to me, without a wholesale number. Makes me think maybe
I should look into one of those things...
