Battery for automatic light adjustment (for my, I`m becaming boring,
yashica) isn`t being produced any more. Actually, production was stopped
10 or 15 years ago. I don`t know what to do ?
Battery is V 164 PX 5.6V , if that means anything to you....
I`ve been in a few battery shops today, but everyone told me that`s
impossible to find and that I cannot find ANY replacement...
Foto guys told me the same...
Is my yashica ruined with this ?

Get an adapter. This guy can probably help you:

That 5.6 volt battery was really four 1.35 volt mecury cells in series in a
cylendrical case. You may be able to find four 1.4 volt zinc-air button
cells that will fit in the same space. If what you find winds up a bit
thin, you can space it out with some thin metal.

The 1.4 volt zinc-air batteries he's talking about are hearing aid batteries
and are available in just about every drug store on the planet (nice
availability). They usually come 5 to a package and one lasts about 1-1.5
months in my Nikkormat. You may find the diameter doesn't work right for
your camera, but this can be fixed with some O-rings from a hardware store.
A cheap solution.

Check criscam.com. They sell some battery adapters that may be
suitable for your use. I have one of their MR-9 adapters that I use in
Yashicamat 124. It works great ant the life time of the silver cell is
much longer than the zinc-air hearing aid batteries I use.

no, this is not an option... I don`t have credit card or something and
shipping costs would be... horibble :)

Most camera repair places can upgrade your equipment by putting in a
resistor which compensates for the voltage changes and allows your camera to
take modern batteries of the same size. It's a common procedure since they
outlawed mercury cells.
