I've located a Beseler 8341 neg carrier for my 45xmt. Since this is not
a current partno, does anyone know if this one became the 8343
(w/anti-Newton glass) or the 8342 (w/standard glass)? Also, is there any
on-line documentation for the partno changes? They kind of make me nuts.
   Thanks.

I've got a pretty old part number list and it's not listed. Can't you tell
what kind of glass it has? I don't think it's likely that the number
changed. My part list includes 8340 [negtrans I think] and the 8342,8343.
The 8xxx set of numbers is I think the newer style of numbers.

Well, I can check the number tomorrow morning. How can I tell if it's
anti-Newton glass or not?

The 8341 was listed simply as "4x5 Glass Carrier"  so it's virtually certain
that it was a plain glass carrier.  The only difference between it and an
8342 is the type of hinge. The 8341 has a "piano" style hinge while the
newer carriers have a hinge made of spring steel.  The only difference
between the 8342 and the 8343 is that the 8343 includes the AN glass.  But
all three take the same size glass so AN glass can be fitted to the other
two as an option.

You can always identify AN glass by its stippled appearance.

Do you know if Beseler ever offered the AN glass as a separate item that
could be installed on the 8341?

Yes, Lew.  The Beseler part # is 7005.  We keep it in stock, but you should
also be able to order it through any Beseler dealer.
