Aussies will recognise it straight off but our American friends might
wonder a little as to what it is. Born in the golden years of Rock and Roll.

More kids were conceived on the back seat of these cars than in the
bedroom! No pill in those days and boy... The glaring look on the
Apothecary's face when you asked for a condom was enough to scare off
anyone.

Another casual snapshot I hope - desperately needs a diffuser/reflector,
and why on earth didn't he balance the flash with the ambient to avoid
the blown areas??

Here's what the FJ (sorry Efijy) looks like *now*:

Of course those images do not compare to Doug's - I just walk in the
footsteps of the master..  But maybe one day I too will register my own
association to certify myself, and be able to afford the $35 to become a
world-renowned member of the WIPM.  I'll be so proud of myself then.

I didn't get a shot of the engine bay that time, but here's one from
elsewhere to show the 6.0 litre supercharged V8:

They really should have asked Doug to shoot that image, I think.  It
just doesn't work for me.

I can see why the efijy won best hot rod in 06, If they put those into
production I would consider finally getting something with a V8 in it, "sex
on a stick" was how I heard it described once :-0

Forgive me for repeating myself (I've waxed lyrical about it before),
but the Efijy is just the most extraordinary vehicle I have ever seen,
bar none, and I've been to the odd car show...

The look of it, those huge curves and absolutely perfect paintjob, along
with an interior that just exuded quality (still clearly acknowledging
it's FJ heritage), just gave me goosebumps when I saw it in the flesh.
The car is so perfectly executed, it's like you are next to a CGI
creation - if you ever get the chance to see it - GO!

more than enough ponies with the 6l supercharged V8, and it looks better
than a lot of the 3 box design cars on the roads currently :-)
but as I said, everyone has different tastes, otherwise we would all still
be using Box Brownies and driving black Model T's
BTW I did see the g,d&r before :-P

Thing that gets me with that one is the styling:
too exaggerated retro for my taste.
Just kidding about the power, of course.

Before winter we had a local hot-rod and classic
car show in Rat Park, Warriewood.  Saw some incredible
cars, stuff of my youth dreams: 67'vette, 'cuda.
Didn't have the camera with me and still kick myself
for that!

But my *real* soft spot is for one of these:

We had to Rolls Royce club come to town last year for their anual club day,
there were some wonderful cars there, and like you I forgot my camera (only
a p&s but its at least something) fortunately a friend who is a professional
was there and I was emailed some of his shots for my own enjoyment. I just
looked at his website and he doesn't seem to have put any of them up, I
might drop him a line and suggest he does, then I will post a link :-)

A fraternity brother of mine at Indiana University had a Golden Hawk.
We were driving from Bloomington (Indiana) to Indianapolis late one
night in 1960 and hit a deer.  The car was so aerodynamically designed
that the deer rolled across the hood and the top of the car and off
the back without, as far as we could tell, any damage to the deer.  We
stopped and hunted, but could find no trace of the deer.  The car
suffered some scratches and small dents.
