pics have leaked out of that Sony 24Mp Alpha-900

here:
r-a900.html>

which it turns out will have live-view like P&S's
(ah the transition of technology from P&S to SLR's goes on..)

a video of the sensor doing it's image stabilizing tricks:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=hertVQYx-ss

and Sony commercial:
<http://masterchong.com/v2/sony-alpha/sony-alpha-dslr-commercial.html>

their current A200 (10Mp) sells for a mere $600 AU dollars from the US,
while the 14Mp is the same price as the 8Mp Canon 30D - under $USD 800 body
only, so the new beast might be quite reasonably priced :)

dunno about the cams, but those Sony sponsored
Zeiss lenses are starting to take a quality
stand against other maker's!
the last reviews in photozone left me
drooling...

Zeiss has been making lenses for Hasselblad for years. Not a cheap camera
system ;-)

and almost every other maker too.. well, at least, the lenses have been
available in other camera makers mounts - but they're just doing what a lens
company should :)

Even with a Zeiss lens, 24Mp would be pushing it's resolution limits (or
maybe beyond) I should think.
Should help with nose reduction/averaging though.

If you really need a genuine 24Mp+, you probably need to flog the house and
buy a Hasselblad medium format digital camera (or similar), instead :-)

I do nose reduction more than adequately in-camera with appropriate lens
selection.

works for film too

if only... most are just proxy comedians,
ready to jump in after their "leader"
with the "me too" crap, the only thing
they can do anyway...

Sorry to beat this dead horse (by a nose..?), but I would add that
apart from appropriate choice of a portrait or longer lens, nose
reduction is also assisted by keeping the person facing towards you
just enough to keep their nose within the constraints of the face..

An old tip, but it all helps to keep those big noses under control..

In fact the best angle will vary depending on whether it's a very long, or
very wide/flat nose.
Even the degree of frontal elevation should be considered in many cases.

Didn't ANYONE think I might have meant "noise", not even sure what "nose
averaging" is :-)
(although superimposing multiple faces has been done already, so I guess
that's the same thing)

True enough, but I thought we were getting a bit off-topic and didn't
wish to over-complificate.

Oh.. Really????  Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I CERTAINLY
didn't spot it.

I'd rather have a nose problem at 24
than a weight problem in the 30s...
