This was the view of Sacre Coeur from our hotel room at night
when we were in Paris.

Hi, Troy.

Nice scene - at first look I felt it was very unbalanced, but that
sorta works for it, in a way.  The whites are a little blown - a less
exposed, less contrasty version might have worked better.

Keep 'em coming!  (Hmm.  Must get off my backside and post a few
myself.)

Fair points.  Thanks for your comments.

Oh, I just tried HDR of it to see if I could correct those blown
highlights.  I have never successfully done one.  Whatchya think?

Bravo!  Well done.  Now if it only had that dusk sky...

You know what they say - "a true work of art is never completed,
merely abandoned"  (O;

Hi Troy

First off it's a lovely photograph

Things you may wish to consider next time (if there ever is one that
is)
Try shooting at Dusk or Dawn instead, rather than once there's no
light in the sky.  As you can see you have a lot of dead space in the
right of the pic, and a little colour and maybe clouds would help
retain interest.  Also the additional light reduces the highlight
blowouts, and allows more to be seen in the shadows.

It's a great pic though, I like your sense of placement.  Putting most
of it to the left makes the photo look balanced, or at least it would
were there just a bit more to see, and something to fill that empty
space.

Cheers

Glenn

Thanks.  I did take some pics similar during the day from the
same spot, but the haze in Paris is very ordinary and found it
spoiled the view from that distance.

Actually I meant 'practise' - it's the whole verb vs noun thing
:)
