Yes, you got A shot but not The Shot. Camera angle was wrong and you didn't
reveal the subjects personality. Next time look for The Shot and take that.

The picture is not that bad. Given the extreme dynamic range between
the sky and the shadow area (a resl test for digital), you did very
well.

Yes, and you can never have too many pelicans. ;-)
