Is anyone thinking of buying one?

It certainly looks feature packed and I like the additional lens
attachments available.

My only camera at the moment is the IXUS, an IXY 800IS which does a
great job for what I need.

I am waiting on them to arrive here.  I am after a more capable P&S
for those times that the wife bans the big camera from coming along.
My present P&S is an S60 and while pretty good, 5mp just doesn't cut
it.

I have had G series cams before and really liked them, the G9 sees the
return of the RAW format which was stupidly dropped in the G7... Why
did they drop it to begin with??????.

Sample images from DPReview left me a little underwhelmed with the
lens performance of the G9, but I will make my decision based on my
own test shots and processing, as online image samples can often fail
to reflect a cams true quality.

Cheers

Rusty,

I've always found Canon's optics to be adequate.

BTW love your website and the beautiful images within .. you've been
doing this for some time, I can tell. :)

Thanks for your wise opinions.

Cheers,

G2 was/is a great camera... I really liked mine, but like the S60 I
mentioned above, it does not provide enough megapixels for me.

G8... nup they skipped that.

Apparently G8 means something rude in Japan, so they skipped 8 for 9
