Hi guys,

I own an EOS 30 film camera and a range of Canon lenses. I am planning
on buying an EOS 40D and was wandering if I could still use my
existing lenses.

Does anyone know if there are any things I should be aware of before
moving on etc.

A feedback will be very much appreciated.

Regards

Max

Yes, your old lenses should work. One of the best reasons for staying
with a brand , is having old lenses that will work with the new
camera.

Be aware of the "crop factor", epending on the size of the sensor in
your new camera there will be a difference between your 35mm camera
and the digital.  It will probably be a factor of about 1.5, that
means that you need to multiply the focal length of your lens by 1.5
to get its effective field of view on the digital camera.  Your 50mm
lens essentially becomes  75mm

Does this mean my images will be clipped from the sides and resulting
in loss of detail?

Nope they won't be clipped as such.
You are best off visiting some canon forums for more information as for
starters the cropfactor is 1.6 for canon not 1.5
