I wish to expand my blog to provide a compendium of photographic
capture and post processing techniques, for use by enthusiests and
professionals alike.

This will provide those who volunteer the use of their submissions,
valuable exposure for their business and/or art, thanks to the
inclusion of contact details and advertisement within the submission
itself.

In addition to the blog, the top 101 Techniques selected (actual
number to be determined), may also be presented in a magazine format
and this could provide even greater exposure for those who
participate.

If you are interested, please drop by my blog at http://blog.pixelpix.com.au
for more details.

Cheers

Russell

What are you paying for the technical articles Russell?
Popular Photography used to pay close to $100 for 600 words. plus $10 per
illustration (they published). When I wrote for them. Roughly $150 a page.
Granted they took three months to pay but they never the less, always paid.

Are you paying like this or intending to publish a magazine full of free
contributions? Granted a business (as if they have the time to write) may or
may not get "great exposure" as sufficient reward but what of someone not in
business? What reward do they get?

If you do succeed in getting enough free articles, how will you verify they
are factual or scientifically based and not misleading?
Is the intended magazine going to be distributed free?
Are you going to sell advertising in it?
How many copies are you contemplating in your first print run?

Maybe if you created an explanation page containing answers to these
question, you might attract some genuine contributors. As it is, I am
sceptical that you may just be trying to exploit other Photographers for
your own financially gain.

Nothing!  ....those who "volunteer" their tips and techniques would
have the opportunity to promote their services.

It's up to those who "volunteer" their articles to decide if the
exposure they receive is recompense enough.

It's not to hard to test a photographic or photoshop technique and I
will make sure that I don't publish any articles like "Build your own
emulsion from nuclear waste in your very own kitchen!"

The magazine format that I am suggesting is more along the lines of a
PDF document so that people could download it and read it offline
rather than wading through a web site.   There is no intention for
"print runs" or charging for the download.

Sceptic away.... but I am simply wishing to make some decent
information available to people, without the need for them to wade
through the ton of crap that now infests most photography news groups
and forums alike.

OK.
That's a bit different to the impression you created when you asked people
to provide submissions and you were going to publish a magazine with them.

I'll see what I can come up with.
