This isn't normally my bag, but on Sunday I wandered down to Currumbin
and took a few snaps off the rocks.  And put them together into this:

http://image57.webshots.com/657/4/53/18/2200453180048119320EfnvnZ_fs.jpg

Hope that link works..  That's a reduced version - if anyone is
interested I can post a larger one (~6400 x 670 pixels) somewhere
else.

I took the shots without the intention of a pano, hence there was no
attempt to keep the exposure or white balance constant -woops.  Plus
the light was a little challenging - high cloud, bits of sun breaking
through occasionally.. The waves were ok, if not large, and there
seemed to be a slight shortage of very good surfers - but maybe that's
because I only ever see the pro's on tv..  (O;

I'll try again one day, and be a bit more serious, both pre- and post-
processing.  But in the meantime, I was quite happy with these results
from a prosumer (Fuji S9500)...   Webshots resizing and sharpening has
damaged that version a bit (amateurs!!) - but like I said, if anyone
wants the full version, just ask.

Sadly, it *doesn't* work if you directly click it..

However, if you open a different browser window, then copy and paste
that text into the address line, it should...

Sorry 'bout that.  I'll put the full version up in a day or two -
right now I'm tired and going to bed..

The link works for me.  That would make a nice frieze for a wall.

It worked for me.

Looks good. I like it.

You should look into better stitching software. The joins are visible.

This will probably only happen if you're coming off a web site such as
Google Groups; people with newsreaders will still be able to view it.

Easy fix: click the link, if you get a 403 error add a '?' to the end
of the URL. Then it will load.

Thanks for the kind comments, folks.  Larger version here (still only
about a third of the full thing..):

http://www.marktphoto.com/surf_pano.jpg

I might re-work it at some point and get the colours/contrast/
brightness more consistent...  It was a bit of a hasty effort.  I
might also include more of the wave at right, so as to give it a bit
more of an ending - seems a bit rudely cropped at that end..

I'm totally devastated that Mike can spot the seams... (O;  It would
be interesting to see what a pano program would come up with - I think
it might choke a bit on the repeating buildings and non-matching
waves..  I think I will settle for thin bars between each frame for
the final print.  But I will probably re-shoot the images first
anyway...  Sigh.  So many images, so little time  (O;

Thanks for that little ? tip, gg - I'll remember that!
